They say home is where your heart is

Back where I started Where I came from Back to the roots Keine Sorge, die Reiseabenteuer der letzten Wochen werden noch alle in schöne Posts mit Schleifchen verpackt. Doch für jetzt finde ich mich an dem Ort wieder an dem ich wohl den größten Teil meines Teenagerlebens verbracht habe. Der Ort, zu dem ich immer wiederkehre. Mein Bett in meinem Zimmer bei meinen Eltern. Dieser Ort ist – so traurig das klingen mag – wohl der Refrain meines Lebens. Meines bisherigen Lebens. Ich liege hier, wo ich vor 12 Wochen das letzte mal lag. In dem Dorf in dem ich vor 12 Wochen das letzte mal war. Komme an die Orte, von denen ich mich vor 12 Wochen zum hunderttausendsten mal verabschiedet habe. home, sweet home. after weeks – month – of adventures, traveling, finding new friends and falling in love with places I found myself right where I started.…

When stranded in Salt Lake City…

This summer I ended up for not even twenty-four hours in Salt Lake City – the capital city of Utah – three times. The city and it’s scene is definitely worth more than twenty-four hours but I will give my best to give you a little glimpse of the desert’s metropolis… Breakfast So let’s begin with the important things. THE most important thing in the day, if you ask me: breakfast. I fell in love with this local café and brewery that I dragged my boyfriend as well as both my sisters there. And even my parents, who we just brought toasts for the road where delighted! The Publik Kitchen Brewery has three branches spread over SLC, one of them being more of a restaurant, the other ones focusing on the coffee. If you are not restricted by allergies (like I am) and not too worried about calorie-counting (oughta occur)…

On Portland

It’s girls time! Since Sunday my sisters and I are “alone” on the road. We left our parents in Sun Valley and have three weeks of road trip-adventures ahead of us. First Stop: Portland, Oregon. Simply driving across the Oregon border from Idaho had us all excited. As I had been driving for the last four hours we decided to change right at the welcome center. BEST. CHOICE. EVER. This magical little place has free coffee and tea plus brochures and magazines of all the places worthwhile seeing in the state. No need saying they had us at free coffee. So some of you might have heard about Portland because of the popular series “Portlandia” – even though it did not make it to Germany yet.
