Falling in love with Utah…

I got so lucky – being a journalist is definitely my/a dream job! BigLife Magazine has sent me to a trip with Turner Media to explore northern Utah! On-the-roading it, part one: Ketchum to Salt Lake City, 287 miles Utah is a state northern to Idaho, so it took me a good five hours to get from Ketchum – my current Homebase – to get to Salt Lake City, the capital of the state. Salt Lake is beautiful a and somewhat intense city. The streets are huge and parts of the city really set off the whole „Hunger Games“-vibe, with the big white Capitol building sitting enthroned on the hill, watching over the city. Here I met the whole group, there’s eight of us, five out of these people being journalists. We’re all from all over the place but mostly the American West, so I’m the only international one. From Salt Lake City…

Note to self

Sometimes we all need little reminders, notes to ourselves, to stay on our tracks and stay true to us. I got it when I stumbled upon this quote yesterday. So please take notes: Your guts know best. No matter what people say is right or wrong. No matter how perfect something seems. Your guts know best. You don’t owe anyone anything. Except for yourself. You owe yourself to stay true to you. To listen to your guts. To do what feels right. And to trust yourself. Always. Because no one knows you better than you know yourself. And last and never least: Everything happens for a reason.

Sharing good news or A brief declaration of love to the New York Subway

I have a confession to make: I love taking the subway. I know, it can be gross and annoying and crowded and disgusting. I used to hate it when I lived and work here and basically took it every day at rush hour PLUS had to transfer at fucking Times Square on a daily basis – which is a New Yorkers nightmare – but still, I just fell in love with it all over again. It’s an adventurous place to be! There is hardly a better place to do people watching. Overwhelmed tourists, flirty couples, kids asking their parents questions (One of my favorites would probably be „Mommy, what holds the sky up?“). I like the old people. And the really young ones. I like the busy people. I love how it confuses people when you smile at them. How thankful they are, when you do.  I love seeing these people and…

Goodbyes and New Beginnings

What better place is there to write about Goodbyes then on an Airplane. I haven’t decided yet if I want to continue blogging in German or if I’ll switch to English for the following month, as I will be in America anyways and want to practice my writing. Sometimes fragments of sentences, phrases and thoughts come to my mind and long to be written down. This basically happens whenever I get inspired to write. Most of the time they are German, obviously, as I was raised here, educated here, have most of my friends and live here. Lived, for now. As this airplane I am sitting in is taking me no place less than New York City. My Nirvana, my Neverland. I decided to turn this blog, my little space on the Internet into more of a personal space where I share the adventures that await me in the crazy…

Bye Bye Comfort Zone
